Here is how our week went...
Monday was my first week of being furloughed.  It's so crazy, but what am I to do but stay busy.  So that's what we did, and have kept doing.  Staying busy!  Monday morning started with Hadley giving me some crazy hairstyles.  We learned about planets, Hadley liked it for the most part and learned something new.  Breakfast was eggs and bacon for me, and cinnamon rolls and yogurt for Hadley.  After Hadleys nap, which I've been religiously having her nap everyday (Mama needs some alone time), we made earth cookies.  I found a quick sugar cookie recipe on Pinterest, we divided the dough in half and made one half blue, and the other half green.  The cookies were delicious!
After we made cookies, we went outside for some fresh air.  Did a few bike rides down the street, she just loves her new bike and is getting more and more comfortable.  After dinner, we watched Ratatouille on Disney Plus.
Tuesday started with Hadley sleeping until 9:20am!  She's been a little off schedule just like the rest of us!  Kevin has been working so much, he left her a little note which was so sweet.  She took a shower after she woke up, and we braided her hair when it was still wet and her idea to put bows in.
After nap, we did some site words.  She loves to do a scavenger hunt with the letters.  We've been doing these same words for two weeks now and she knows how to spell all of them without looking now!  It's time to change it up and add new words.
Wednesday morning, Kevin practiced softball with Hadley.  It's so sad her first softball season is cancelled, but she still likes to practice anyways.  Then she took a nap, and I had a doctor's appointment.  Then virtual dance class, and then more softball!  She loves it.
Thursday, I'm starting to get annoyed with my hair.  It's long, and desperately needs a highlight.  Kevin and Hadley played so much together, she has been missing him so much.  We played Monopoly Junior, it was a little old for her but she did good.
Friday we finally made banana bread!  Our bananas were on their last leg, and it was either time to make it or pitch them.  It was a first time for both of us making banana bread.

Happy Friday!  Made it through another week.  Nothing much planned right now, the weather forecast looks like rain rain and more rain.  Probably lots of movies this weekend.  I ordered the entire Harry Potter movie set, can't wait to watch all of them in a row.  I've only watched until the third movie, so I'm excited for them to arrive!

What we have been doing while spending so much time at home is....watching movies and shows!  Never thought I would say this, but I'm starting to get so burnt out on Netflix.  Who would've thought right?  It's so hard for me to find shows I like lately, so when I do find ones I like it's super exciting!
Here are the top 9 picks from Miss Hadley!  In order from left to right...
1. Boss Baby - she has loved this show since she first watched it.
2. Be Our Chef - we have watched this entire series, it's so cute to watch Hadley want to watch a cooking show!  It's the cutest show, families and their kids competing and cooking together.
3. Home Alone 2  - an old favorite, she's been watching this one a lot.
4. Look Who's Talking - introduced this one to Hadley, she just loves Mikey as he grows up.
5. Miraculuous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir - She loves loves loves this show, I'm not the biggest fan but it keeps her occupied at times and that's all that matters.  It teaches good lessons too which is an added plus.
6. Nailed It - hilarious that she loves this show, but it's pretty funny too.  It's about three bakers that are not so great at baking, and they get judged on the things they make.
7. The Sound of Music - totally shocked Hadley liked this movie, but she does.  I can watch this one over and over again too, so it's a win win.
8. Sugar Rush  - Another cooking show she loves, it's a baking competition between teams of bakers.  We have actually baked things out of inspiration from this show!
9. Three Men and a Baby - The beginning of this movie is a little adult for Hadley, but we fast forward to the part when the baby comes and she loves it.  Baby Mary is so cute!

Here are the top 9 picks from me!  In order from left to right...
1. Gilmore Girls  - I have loved this show since the beginning, and have watched it from start to finish multiple times.  Love the relationship between Lorelai and Rory so much.  Even Miss Hadley will watch it with me!
2. Fever Pitch - One of the movies Kevin will watch with me.  He loves baseball.
3. Julie & Julia  - This movie was one of the reasons I started blogging, loved her enthusiasm with cooking and blogging.
4. Tiger King  - Jumped on the bandwagon with this one, and it's such a train wreck it's so hard to not look away.  The animal world, especially the tiger world is just insane.  Watch it if you haven't.
5. Jumanji  - Introduced the original Jumanji to Hadley and she loved it!
6. Blended  - Being in a blended family myself, this is one of my favorites.
7. The Proposal - this one will always be on the list, it's one of my favorite movies to watch with Kevin and I think the only chick flick (besides Fever Pitch) he'll watch with me.
8. The Today Show - if I had to stay home everyday, I would watch this show every morning.
9. The Outer Banks  - I rarely find a show I like, and when I do it ends up being just one season!  Let's hope they make more seasons!  This one was great, left me on the edge of my seat every time (yes I'm a scardy cat) but I loved it.

Well there you have it, our top favorite picks to watch during this time at home!  I'm sure their will be more added to the list as our time at home continues.  Thankful for movies and shows to keep us entertained!

Friday started out with an impromptu trim for Hadley.  I cut about an inch and a half off, nothing too crazy but enough to get rid of the dead ends.  I cannot wait until my salon opens back up, in desperate need of a trim and highlight!
Love to think of new sayings for our felt letter board.  Crazy times bring out the craziness in people!  I've been doing lots of self-reflecting with all of this time at home.  Be around the people that bring sunshine to your life!
Friday night drinking in my favorite Yeti!
Rearranged the office into a mini movie theater!  We watched the new movie Onward on Disney Plus!  Such a cute movie.
These are the things I take daily.  I started taking D3 when the Corona virus craziness started, thought it can't hurt!
Saturday morning breakfast, eggs and strawberries!  I've been eating eggs almost every morning.
Hadley sitting under an umbrella while I cut the grass.  She's the best, entertaining herself while I mow, edge, and blow the lawn.  It takes me awhile when I do it solo, she's so patient!
After I cut the grass, we picked out different size sticks to try and touch the tallest branches in the yard.
We tried to make lemon tarts, they didn't taste too bad.  We need to find a different crust recipe.  It doesn't matter how they taste really, it's all about the experience with Hadley.  She loves to bake!
Saturday night, we did another mini movie theater in the dining room.  We watched Big Hero 6, it was good too!  Love Disney Plus.
Sunday, the girls made chocolate cupcakes from scratch.  They turned out really tasty!
Ended the weekend with our weekly girls chat on Zoom.  Love seeing these faces and keeping in touch.  It really helps to have this to look forward to each week, we all help each other, listen to what we've been doing, etc.

Happy Monday!  Make it a great week!

We have been making this recipe quite a lot lately and thought I'd share because it's so delicious!  Garlic chicken on flatbread.  We follow the recipe except omit the onions.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup diced onion (omitted)
2 garlic cloves, crushed
2 tablespoons distilled white or cider vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 1/2 cups shredded cooked chicken (we don't shred the chicken, just cut it to small pieces)
6 mini naan, or 4 pita breads
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.

First, I cook the chicken and drain the juices in the strainer.  Set aside.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.  Add the onion and garlic, and cook, stirring, until the onion is soft, about 5 minutes.  Again, we do not put onions in our recipe but this is the original recipe.
Stir the vinegar, soy sauce, cayenne, black pepper, cornstarch, and 1 tablespoon water together in a small bowl.
Turn the heat off under the skillet and pour the vinegar mixture in with the onion and garlic, stirring to combine.
Add the chicken to the skillet, tossing to combine it with the sauce.
Arrange the naan in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Divide the chicken among the naan and top each with cheese, dividing it evenly.  Bake for 7 to 8 minutes, until the cheese melts and begins to brown.  Serve hot.

Delicious!  We always have leftovers, and it tastes really good the next day also!

EASTER 2020.

Just like everyone else in the world right now, our Easter was a little bit different this year!  We stayed home like most people, and enjoyed ourselves.
Good Friday was spent by dying eggs which every kid seems to love no matter how old they are.  Brady and Natalie did a dozen eggs just like Hadley, sat there at the table with us all, and had fun.  I have such fond memories of coloring eggs with my Grandma June.
After dinner, and a family Zoom chat, we had a family coloring night.  I printed off some Easter themed coloring pages from Pinterest and we sat at the kitchen table and just colored.
Saturday afternoon we had an Easter egg hunt for the kids.  It was just beautiful outside!
Saturday, my parents came over and surprised the kids with their Easter goodies.  They kept their distance which was hard, but it was so good to see them in person!  They are the best.
My Mom made all of us homemade masks, even baby doll Minnie got a mask of her own.
Sunday morning, it was just Hadley and I for Easter.  She has been wearing dresses during this time at home which I am loving because she is usually anti-dress!
We had our own little breakfast for two.  Cinnamon rolls, biscuits, and bacon.  Orange juice for Hadley, and a mimosa for Mama!

It was a very laid back and relaxed Easter.  As you can see, the kids' Easter baskets are missing from this post.  Our Easter Bunny caught the Corona virus (haha j/k) and isn't able to deliver any goodies until later this month.  That's what I get for ordering late in the game, and with the Corona going around, everything that is normal shipping times is delayed even more.  Oh well, we have nothing else to do but wait right?!?!  Thankful to be healthy and stay at home with my people.  Hope everyone had a nice Easter!

Happy Monday, make it a great week!
