Happy Friday!  Yay!  It's been an interesting week to say the least.  Brady decided on a high school, went to the 100th Opening Day parade that kicks off the baseball season.  It was a beautiful day!  Work has been super busy.  The weather doesn't look good for the weekend, which doesn't make it easy to get excited about but it's still the weekend right?  Oh, and counting down the days until vacation time!

A new year of K&M monthly posts!  Yay!  Here is what we've been up to this month...

March is for March Madness!

Every year, we both fill out brackets.

Whoever has the most wins, cooks the other dinner.

It's usually me doing the cooking.

She turned the big 40 this month!

Read more about the festivities here.

He was so sweet in getting everything together to celebrate!

His turn is next...just a few months down the road.

She is going to the Opening Day parade.

He is bummed he has to work.

Go Reds!

the 100 day project.

So excited to begin a new project this year!  It's called The 100 Day Project!  All you do is think of a project or action you want to do for 100 days in a row and do it!  Sounds simple right?  You can do anything you want, from 100 drawings in a journal, 100 paintings, write 100 poems, exercise for 100 days, take photos for 100 days, create a podcast for 100 days, the ideas are endless you just have to find what you want to do.

This will be my second attempt at this project.  Last year, I tried to do 100 days of beaches on fabric.  I made it a few days, but it was too complex for the first time.  I've not been feeling particularly creative lately, and I don't want to make anything physical so I'm thinking of what to do that is super simple.  I have a week to decide, I have some ideas on paper but I want it to be something crazy simple.  I have a small notebook that I keep in my everyday bag, so it's going to be something that I can put in there everyday.  Just need to figure out what!

Last year, my Mom participated in the project.  She made 100 days of baby doll clothes!  She actually sewed clothes everyday, and my daughter Hadley loves them.  She's made bathing suits, life jackets, baby bed, blankets, book bag, dresses, it was awesome.  I hope she decides to do it again this year, maybe not something that is super physical, but something at least.

The official start day is one week from today, Tuesday 4/2/19.  You can go here to read more about the project, follow along with the facilitator, or follow the hashtag #the100dayproject.

I think the hardest part of this project for me will be that there are no rules, no guidelines to follow, or anything like that.  For some people, that might be amazing but I do better when I have something to go by or follow along with.  Which is another reason why I want to push myself to do this, even if it's a simple thing I do each day.

To put it in simple terms, here is my understanding of how the project works.
  1. Think of a project idea.
  2. Announce your project. You can tag your project with your own unique hashtag, and also use the #100dayproject hashtag so people can follow along, and the facilitator can find you also.
  3. You'll do this idea everyday for 100 days and post on your Instagram account.
  4. On April 2nd, create and post everyday for 100 days!
  5. Blog about it, or document your project.
So what do you think?  Want to do this with me?  I can't wait!  I need something to keep my brain busy from the normal everyday life happenings and I think this is just what I need.

P.S.  The founder of the 100 day project went to UC!  Read about him Michael Bierut!

from the weekend.

Friday night, taking her baby somewhere.  Usually to Disney on Ice and then the beach.  Love this kids imagination.
Saturday morning Hadley and I went to Target while Daddy slept.
Saturday night, went to a Reds event to kickoff the 100th opening day parade this year!
Hadley watching The Wizard of Oz.   Lately, I've been introducing her to the older movies and she's been loving them.  Dennis The Menace, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Beethoven to name a few.
This lotion came in my FabFitFun starter box, and it's amazing!  I keep it my by bedside table and put it on every night.  It smells amazing too!

Happy Monday folks!  Ready to start this week!

around here.

around here trying new drinks out.
around here tired little babe before bedtime.
around here love it when her teachers send me pictures during the day!
around here playing a dice game with Daddy at dinner.

Thank God It's Friday!
I am so looking forward to relaxing this weekend, we have nothing we really have to do!  Tomorrow we might hit up the zoo if it's not too cold, and then head downtown tomorrow night for some Reds celebrations.  Next week is opening day, the start of baseball!  We love the Reds.  Hope to go to more than one game this year.  I desperately need to clean my car, mainly on the inside so might try to do that too.  That's pretty much it for our weekend!

Have a good one!

thirsty thursday / vodka tonic.

Since I turned 21, I've always been a beer or rum drinker when it comes to alcohol.  Like always would drink beer, or rum and cokes.  Those were my go to drinks for the longest time.  And then, I started drinking rum all the time.  No beer.

My favorite type of rum is what I call Kroger rum, because if you can buy it at Kroger it's not really a strong liquor right?  Parrot Bay Coconut Rum is my absolute favorite, and I drink it with Zevia Cola.  Which is a zero calorie cola, which justifies drinking the calories in the coconut rum.

Recently, I've been drinking vodka and tonic water, with a splash of lime juice.  It's surprisingly not too bad.  Vodka is a different acquired taste for me, when I'm so used to rum.  So I'm working on trying new drinks, now that we have a fully stocked bar cart

What is your favorite alcoholic drink right now?

hello spring.

Hello first day of Spring!

This photo was taken by her teacher at school, when it even remotely starts to feel warm out they take the kids outside the moment they can.  The kids love the playground, and Hadley loves to swing.  She has learned to pump her legs and to swing really high!

Any hoo, it's spring today!  Let's hope for some warmer sunshiney days ahead!

from the weekend.

A few pictures from our weekend.  Pretty chill.  Had some gorgeous sunshine, a little colder temperatures but the sunshine was awesome.  We almost lost our dog George, we were not really paying attention (aka me) and noticed he wasn't on his bed and the back door was cracked open.  Brady went out on his bike calling for him and found him, he ran down the street and basically had all the neighborhood dogs barking.  Comical.

Glad the week has started, sometimes you just need to get back to the grind and reset from the weekend.

Happy Monday!

around here.

around here getting outside for one day this week was just glorious.   We took a walk with George, and can't wait for summer days.
around here ate dinner in the dining room with the babies.
around here when Hadley goes to bed, sometimes she'll put her babies to bed too.  This night, she gave them each a blankey to sleep with.  She's going to make a great Mom someday.
around here did some meal prep this week, and it helps so much with lunches!
around here this night, each baby got a blankey and a stuffed animal to sleep with.  It's so sweet!
around here we had a tornado warning, so we headed to the basement.  Hadley was a little scared, but it wasn't a warning long.  We went outside to look at the skies, it was so pretty but weird.

The theme of the week should be babies!  Anyways,  happy Friday!  Another week in the books for 2019.  Ever feel like the weeks just fly by and you don't know where the time went?  I wish time could slow down.  What's up for this weekend is not much.  Kevin has to take Brady to baseball a million miles away, and then St. Patrick's Day!  Nothing planned, but maybe we'll make some green snacks or something.  Either way, it's the weekend!  Have a good one...

st. patrick's day decor.

We love St. Patrick's Day around here, but I do not have that many things to put up for decoration.  What little we do have, we put up this week!
Feelin lucky and shamrock kitchen towels!
A simple banner on the mantle!

Nothing too extreme for our house, but it's something.  My ultimate goal is to have a bin for each holiday full of decorations!  Right now I have a few bins with miscellaneous decor all mixed in.  It's on my long term organization list!  I have forever to do it, so no rush.

P.S.  Happy Pie Day!

the helper.

Recently, I took this test called the Classical Enneagram, and it was determined that I am a 2 the Helper.  First of all, wow that is so right on.  Secondly, one of the descriptions stated that "Twos are warm, emotional people who care a great deal about their personal relationships, devote an enormous amount of energy to them, and who expect to be appreciated for their efforts."  UM YES.  That is exactly how I feel.  Needless to say, it's become hard for me to learn that not everyone likes to tell me they appreciate things or whatever the case may be.  I will devote time to my personal relationships, but if I get nothing in return, then I shutdown and it's hard for me to get back to that point.
Above is the full description of what the helper is.  I found it very interesting and pretty accurate.  When you take the test, it will give you two different answers.  The first one is which personality type you are. The second is, taking wings into account I am 2w3.  So that means, "usually one has characteristics of one of the types that lie adjacent to one's own that are more prominent.  This is called the wing."  So someone that might be a 2, might have a 3 wing like I do.  If your results do not have a dominant wing, that means the wings are balanced.  For me being a 2w3, that means I'm a helper with a wing of achiever.  Very very accurate.

I love taking these kinds of tests!  If you are interested in taking this test, click here

bits from the weekend.

Saturday we walked in the Shamrock Shuffle, it was a fun little 5k race to walk in with the family.
After the race, we hung out in the car to feed baby Ari.  Baby smiles are the best.
When your four year old wants you to eat the same dinner as her, you do it.  Dinosaur chicken nuggets and mac/cheese.  These moments won't last forever, so I'm soaking them all in while they are here.
Nothing like a made bed with pretty pillows.  Our comforter looks like it matches the wall color, but it does not.  The wall is a greenish type color, and the comforter is gray.  We plan on painting our room a different color, but that will all come in time.

Happy Monday everyone!  The temperatures look like they are going to get a little warmer this week, bring on the warm temps and hopefully a bit of sunshine please!

Are you ready to start the week?  I am.  Let's do this!

around here.

around here chilling in her jammies on the fireplace petting George.  Monday we had a chill day at home, I was off work and kept her home with me.  She took a four hour nap!  She wouldn't have slept that much if she was at school, so I'm glad she stayed home.
around here shared a little bit about our bar cart yesterday.  Now that we've got the cart all stocked up, I need to figure out what to hang on the wall behind it!
around here birthday love!
around here if you are not familiar with Brooke Christen, she is the cutest!  She has great ideas on essential oils if you are into that.  She is a huge fan of natural/organic everything.  I'm not the biggest fan of everything having to be natural, but definitely makes me want to try it more.  Here is the link to her blog: Nesting With Grace
around here beautiful sunrise this week!
around here found an old bulletin board at work and hung it up on one of the walls in my office.  I need a few more things for the top.
around here went to Disney on Ice!  The kids' faces are priceless.  They were so excited.  This was Hadley's second year going, she loves it.  Our cousin Kaiden was his first time, and he was mesmerized.  I love watching the faces of the kids more than the actual show!  And sweet baby Ari was just a gem, he loved all the twinkling lights up above.

We made it to Friday!  What a week this has been, from recovering from the 40th festivities, to being in our home 3 months, having a busy week at work, and then the weekend has arrived.  This cold weather has got to go, I'm so over it.  Doesn't make for good moods, but making the best of it.  I can't wait until we don't have to grab our big coats to go anywhere!  Just slide on the flip flops and go is my kinda weather.  Tomorrow I'm walking in the Shamrock Shuffle, looking forward to getting out there and doing different things.   Have a great weekend everyone!

P.S.  Don't forget to change your clocks on Sunday!  Spring forward!
