happy halloween.

Have a great Halloween!

The weather here looks dreadful for the little trick-or-treaters tonight, but hoping it holds off just enough to go to a few houses for our little mermaid Hadley!

pumpkin carving.

This year we weren't able to make it to a pumpkin patch, but that still didn't stop us from carving some pumpkins for Halloween!  We hit up Kroger, and Hadley picked out two pumpkins.
We googled pumpkin carving ideas and went with some simple ones.
Daddy is the best pumpkin guts getter outter!
As I'm holding Hadley's blue sucker, she wanted to take my picture.
The final product!  Pumpkin carving doesn't have to be anything fancy or elaborate, it's all about making the memories and traditions with the kiddos!

happy birthday to my husband.

Happy birthday to my favorite man!  You are now finally the same age as me, but only for five more months haha  What I have learned since knowing Kevin is, there aren't many like him.  I mean, there's no one like him, but there aren't many men that do the things he does.  Everyday.

We get to celebrate YOU today!  You never like to be in the spotlight nor do you love attention, but today is all about you.  You are the absolute best person I know.  You are caring, welcoming, non-judgmental, forgiving, steady, and strong.

You have the ability to get along with literally anyone, which is such an admirable trait to have.  (And one that I certainly am still trying to learn).

You support people, regardless of any circumstance.  This has always been true in our marriage.  There have been many dreams and ideas that I have chased over the past 9 years and you always supported them.  Not only did you support me, but you listened, gave your input, and encouraged me every step of the way.

Your positivity is contagious.  You see the glass half full and always see the good in every situation.  It's hard to find someone that's always in a good mood, and I appreciate that so much.

You are the most humble person I know.  You show humility and kindness in every situation.  It's one of the most attractive qualities about you.

The world needs more men like you in it babe.  You are such a blessing to my life and the lives of so many.  So today, on your special day, I hope you know you are loved so so much.

Happiest of birthdays my love, and cheers to many more!

our first house.

This past weekend, we officially put our house up for sale!!!  I am excited, nervous, anxious, and don't know what to expect all at the same time, but it's great!  We are ready to move on from our first home.  We have created so many memories here, which will hold a place in our hearts forever.  I have no idea what to expect going forward, but all I know is that I'm ready.  Soo ready.

on 5 years of marriage.

Five years of marriage means there aren't any secrets left, which is pretty nice now I don't have to hide my obsession with rap music, my terrible sense of directions, my slightly intense ocd, my fondness for parrot bay rum, or my inability to remember much of anything unless I write it down.

Five years of marriage means the "young love" butterflies have been replaced with the cozy, intimate, content, knowing each other inside-and-out sort of butterflies.  Instead of being the girl looking at a boy from far away wondering what it would feel like to hold his hand, I am a woman standing next to a man and remembering what it felt like the first time he held our daughter in his arms.

Five years of marriage means the laughter outweighs the anger and the fancy dinners have been replaced with your average white cheese dinner at Cancun.  Romance is less about flowers, diamonds and buying the perfect gift and more about being the one to clean the kitchen without being asked, sending a sweet text just to say, "I love you!" and covering the other with a blanket when they fall asleep.

Five years of marriage means knowing how to argue, when to not back down, why sometimes it's okay to go to bed angry, and that regardless of how much I desperately want to shove him into a wall sometimes, I am with the person I'll be with until we're both old and gray.  We've been through enough ups and downs that we know things will look better if you just give it some time.

Five years of marriage means we've learned how to love each other.  And continue to learn exactly what it means to be in love.

Five years of marriage means we're no longer newlyweds.  It also means looking back at our wedding photos and thinking, how was that five years ago?  It also means being grateful to have met my other half and realizing how many incredible moments we have yet to share together.  Life is still just beginning.

Before we know it, we'll be another five years down the road, and just thinking about where we'll be at that point makes me smile.

Happy 5 year anniversary babe! ♥

Finally!  Fall is here.

The temperatures have cooled down, and it finally feels like fall around here.  I am still not ready for it, but guess I have to be.  Warming my car up in the mornings, putting on coats, taking off coats in the car with Hadley, is never really fun.  But on the other hand, the start of fall means the holidays are upon us.  I love getting together with family and friends during the holiday months.  Would just prefer not to wear bulky clothes, and socks on my feet.  I prefer flip flops and being by a pool!  haha

Welcome fall.

from the weekend.

The only picture I took all weekend!!!  Hadley was playing hardcore with her toys, while Kevin was telling the kids about his ride-along adventure! It was a good weekend!

around here.

around here we love it when Daddy gets to go to swim lessons with us.
around here taking her baby to dinner.
around here baby gets to ride in front with me on the way to work.
around here look at the huge rainbow!
around here holding her baby while watching a movie before bed.  She's been baby obsessed this week.
around here this guy taking selfies at the firehouse!  Just love it!

Wow what a week it's been!  I feel like I need eight more hours a day to get things done.  We have been busy doing house things, swim lessons, just odds and ends that takes up so much time.  And Fall has officially arrived here, almost like winter time.  It's insane.  Nothing we can do about it, 'tis the season right?  I prefer sunshine and water, but until next year I'll manage.  So now I have to get used to being cold, having dry skin, and warming the car up in the mornings.

Cheers to a happy weekend!

Happy Friday everyone!  What do you all have planned, anything exciting?  We have a bonfire party and then watching the Bengals game on Sunday.  Nothing much, but looking forward to a pretty chill weekend.  Oh and will probably cut the grass, since mother nature is still in semi-summer mode our grass is still growing.

Have a fantastic weekend!

even when he is silent.

Listen to this, it's really neat.

"This is a work about hope in the darketst time of life.  The text was found on a wall at a concentration camp after World War 2 and was written by a prisoner.  Even if your freedom and the people you love is taken away from you, no one can take your faith or hope away from you."

I believe in the sun, even when it's not shining.
I believe in love, even when I feel it not.
I believe in God, even when He is silent.

9 years.

Today is our nine year dating anniversary!  These are some pictures over the years.  Lunch at work, Florida trips, Vegas for my brother's wedding, Bengals games, festivals, our wedding picture, dinner on the river, matching Easter outfits, hot tub, indoor volleyball, and my favorite firefighter gear.

I love how we celebrate our first date, even if some years we just acknowledge it I still love it.  It's been a fun wild and crazy adventure.  So glad you asked me out to that Reds game nine years ago.  Cheers to nine years babe!

my husband, the firefighter.

This is my husband Kevin.  He is a firefighter!

This past weekend, he graduated from recruit training and is now an official firefighter.  It's so hard to describe these feelings, but they are overwhelmingly happy!  I have never seen my hubby so happy, I mean how many people do you know get their actual dream job?  To become a firefighter has been his dream since he was 18 years old.  Maybe even before then.  Twenty years later, his dream came true.
The fire department had these announcements made for all of the recruits.  I love the class logo, a goat with a Cincinnati Reds hat on.  We have t-shirts of it too!
When we arrived at the graduation ceremony, they had all of the names with each of their badge numbers on this plaque.  Very very cool.  And what's even cooler, Kevin got his Dad's retired badge number.  How awesome to have his Dad's legacy to continue on the dream.
His entire class!  We got there pretty early so we had a great seat, emotions were running wild!
His Dad pinned his badge on.
Giving all the instructors/lieutenants hugs and hand shakes.
After the ceremony, took lots of photos of course.  Love his uniform hat!
His very proud uncle and Dad.
My parents.
His brother and girlfriend came to support him too!  I don't have any photos of his parents, but they were all there too.  It was a great day celebrating Kevin!
After graduation we were able to grab a quick lunch with the graduate before he had to go back to work for the day.  Natalie and I took selfies because we were a little bored haha  Kevin was so busy talking to everyone, he was so excited!
After the graduation ceremony, Kevin had to go back to work for a few hours.  At the end of the day, all the recruits got to write their name on the walls of the training facility.  Kev found his Dad's name back when he was in recruit training in 1987!  How awesome is that!
Friday night was his class party, we had so much fun!
Helping the treasurer re-count the money for the bar tab.
Treasurer Taylor on the mic, trying to let everyone know drinks are on the house except shots! haha
These two are at the same firehouse together!
Drew and Kevin became good buddies throughout recruit training.
Kevin's company for recruit school.  We had so much fun hanging out with everyone in his class, and meeting new people.
Saturday we celebrated the new firefighter!  I had these candles made special for him, they are from this etsy shop.  I wasn't anticipating the candles being so tall, so we propped them up with plastic forks.
Had some fire themed candy at the table.
And our favorite cookies from our favorite bakery!
Throughout his training, I printed photos of anything they would post online.  So glad I did, he'll have these memories forever.
Hadley the firefighter!  My Mom printed his badge number on this play hat.
We both wore his class shirt to his party, I think most of our casual wear are going to be fire shirts from now on!
The party was at a local brewery called Rhinegeist, family and kid friendly.
I am so unbelievably happy for Kevin.  He has been beaming all weekend.  Recruit training was 22 weeks long.  It's been hard, but wouldn't change a thing.  He has came home mentally and physically exhausted for 22 weeks in a row.  His poor body has been through some intense training, but he kept going every single day.  He never slept past his alarm, he would jump up out of bed every single morning ready to start the day.  Which truly shows how much his heart is in this.  He has wanted this for so long, he's going to be an amazing fireman.  He has the biggest heart, he always wants to help people.  Doesn't matter who you are, he will help you no matter what the circumstances.  He's always had that kind gentle soul since I've known him.

Becoming a firefighter is the perfect job for him, he's not the type to sit behind a desk at an office.  He was born for this.  I am so very proud of his accomplishments, he studied so hard, he got excellent grades on all the tests, he stayed after to get help with certain stations, he has gone above and beyond anything I've ever imagined he would do.
Babe, you will do great things in your life as a firefighter.  I can't wait to see where this journey takes you in life.  And I'm so very glad to be by your side through all of it. Congrats!!!
