happy birthday natalie!

Happy 11th Birthday Natalie!  You are growing up so fast, and almost a mini-teenager already.
You in your father-daughter dress, and your sassy face!
Hope you have the best day and you feel extra extra special!

our memorial day weekend.

We started our Memorial Day weekend with waiting for Daddy and Brady to get home.  Natalie went on a shopping trip with her Grandma and cousin for her birthday.  It's a tradition her Grandma started a few years ago.
Arrived at the lake!  It was hot, but we didn't care one bit.
Hadley is obsessed with feeding the horses, we take the gator and ride down the street a little bit.  We buy bags of carrots when their on sale.
Cousin Becca and Adalynn joining in on feeding the horses with us.
These three were in the water so much, playing on the steps.  The water was freezing at first, but felt so good after roasting in the sun, it was wonderful.
We celebrated Natalie's 11th birthday one night, I made these popsicle cupcakes.  They were a hit!  Her birthday isn't until this week, but she will be at her Mom's house.
Lots of pontoon boat rides.
And some fishing.
Believe it or not, Hadley went down this huge slip and slide with her cousin Becca!  She was a little scared afterwards, but she wanted to do it just like the big kids.  Have it on video, I'll post it on my instagram account later.
Full house for the last pontoon boat ride of the weekend.
Home and exhausted.  Was a fun filled weekend of lots of sunshine and no rain (thankfully!)  Summer has officially arrived in my book, and now all we have to do is get our pool opened and we'll be set.  Hope you had a great weekend!

Happy Monday, make it a great week!

around here.

around here we took George to the vet for the first time since we've had him.  Yes, I know that's not okay but it is what it is.  He's fine, got all his shots up to date, and he's ready to keep living his best life as our family dog!
around here Hadley and I both got our hair cut.  She is such a good little chick, patiently sat for 2 hours while I had my highlights done and then it was her turn.
around here Daddy always gets her to eat all of her dinner, well most of it.  She can't wait to wear her new hat this weekend.
around here helped me wash my car after work and then didn't want to go inside when it's time to eat dinner.  This girl loves the outdoors.
around here timing my fireman putting on all of his gear for his test!  He rocked it!

Thank the good lord it's Friday!  This week has been dragging big time and I'm glad it's finally over.  Ready to get this long holiday weekend started.  Just noticed how nice our grass looks in this photo and it's not even cut or edged yet this week.  Looking forward to relaxing and have nothing to think about this weekend except when to refill my beverage, or when to reapply sunscreen.  I hope the rain holds off and the weather people are wrong.  Even if it does rain, it'll be nice to just chill.

Happy weekend!!!

k&m / may.

A new year of K&M monthly posts.  Fun fun right?  Here we go...

This photo was taken at our neighbors house.

It was a fun night, watching Hadley play with the kids and talking to the neighbors.

We went to a Reds game this month!

I ran into my very first boss, he's a die hard Reds fan for sure.  Season ticket holder.

He has been a studying machine.

Going to be the best firefighter.

She has been cooking dinners like crazy.

Realizing she can cook is life changing.

One more week of May and the kitchen is still not done.

The last part needs to be worked on with no kids around.

Once it's done, massive photos will be taken.

They both can't wait until this long holiday weekend.

We need to just chill and unwind from the everyday hustle and bustle.

my first planter.

Okay folks, this right here is my first planter ever.  I literally planted this baby from start to finish on my own.  My Mom did help me on the phone, but this was a labor of love and a long time coming.

Years and years ago, I used to think that flowers came in the pots that they were supposed to be planted in.  For real.  Like seriously.  I really did think you planted flowers in the plastic thingys they came in.  And, coming from a family of big time green thumbs is a little bit of a shock.  My Grandma June was a huge gardener, she had the most beautiful flowers and plants in her yard.  And then my Mom, same way as her Mom.  She has a knack for planting.  And sad to say, that knack didn't get passed on to me.  But, I am learning and taking baby steps!

So anyways, this planter was so much fun to do!  And little did I know, I picked the right type of mix to go together.
The pink and purple flowers are inpatiens, and the white flowers in the middle are begonias.  These guys like shade, so our front porch is the perfect place for them.
These are coleus, which grow tall which is the perfect mix to put with these flowers.
This large wooden barrel came from Home Depot (my new favorite place), and at first I was completely lost on how many flowers to put in this thing.  So I just winged it and bought what I thought looked good together.
First thing I did was grabbed a bunch of rocks from underneath our back deck, and put a layer of them in the bottom of this container.  Their is a hole already in the bottom, but the rocks will help with drainage when watering.
Here is the finished product!  See the little coleus in the middle?  It should grow taller than the flowers.  I seriously cannot wait for these to start growing!
These are what was left over, I estimated too many I guess but all of these couldn't fit in the planter.  I'm going to plant these in another smaller container, maybe on our back deck by the pool?  Wish I would've started doing this a long time ago.  Things just come in time with me I've learned!

from the weekend.

We had a great weekend!  Started off with planting some flowers, and watering them like crazy.  I have more to say on that topic tomorrow haha but it was hot hot out this weekend.  Saturday night went to the Reds game!  The kids had so much fun, the Reds lost but still fun.  Sunday went to Brady's baseball game, another hot day but fun to see him play.  Hadley loved the playground there, and her little friends came to visit!  Sunday night we ate dinner on the front porch and watched it rain, love to porch sit it's one of my favorite things to do.

Ready to get this week started and to also start thinking of the first long summer weekend ahead!

Happy Monday!

hi sunshine.

It's no secret that I am missing Florida.  Really bad.  With the temperatures skipping over spring, and straight into the hot hot summer temps, I wish I was at the beach!  We have had a long middle to end-of-winter here, with a lot of rain and a lot of gray skies.  And then no spring, just summer.  Our pool is almost ready to be opened though!  The pool will have to do until we can get back to the ocean.  So for the meantime, here is a photo of our favorite drive to the beach.  Just look at those palm trees!

week in the life 2018 / friday/saturday/sunday.

Today I will be sharing my Friday through Sunday photos and words for the Week in the Life project. All photos were taken with my iPhone.

Here is a look into my weekend photos and words...

Curled my hair today!
Finally found a concealer that I love and works well for me!  Neutrogena!
The past few mornings, Hadley has been crying as I leave for work.  I need to start getting up earlier so I can be out the door before she gets up, so it's easier on Kev.
Walked outside during lunch, and love to look at the construction next to our building.  They are building a Kroger downtown, I cannot wait to go grocery shopping after work there.
These babies are still going strong!  Watering them once every two weeks seems to do the trick.
After work on Friday, Hadley's school had milkshakes with Mom.  It was so cute!
After our milkshakes, we did a few errands and she managed to get this spider-man fan.  Trying to convince her to keep it in the car for the hot summer days coming up.
Outfit change #1.  She can't wait to wear this to a baseball game!
Outfit change #2.  This chick will change multiple times, which is fine but not a fan of the extra laundry.
A little bit of sidewalk chalk on our Friday evening.  Dreaming of the ocean!

Started our Saturday with a patriotic outfit!
We headed downtown for a run/walk.  We did 4.58 miles total.  Hadley loved all the people watching, and we even crossed a bridge.
Home for lunch, out on our back deck over looking the pool.

After her nap, outside to play in the sprinkler.  Two bathing suit changes too.
After dinner, we played outside with the neighbors kids.  Water balloons and squirt guns.  Hadley was in heaven having kids to play with, and even George got some loving.

This is how much this kid is going to love summer, she wakes up and puts her suit on first thing.  I went on a run in the morning, then when I came back Kev went.
Because George was out in the front yard the day before, he kept crying in the back yard wanting out front with us.
Headed inside to make breakfast, mini pancakes for Hadley, and Great Grains Crunchy Pecan cereal for me.  Kev was still running.
So excited to try my new shampoo/conditioner out!  Here is the link if interested:  Function of Beauty.
For Mother's Day we ate lunch on a golf course, very nice but a little warm.
After lunch, we headed home and Hadley took a nap.  I love it that she is almost 4 years old and still wants to take a nap.  While she slept, I picked out some flowers at Home Depot and cut the grass for the first time since we re-did it.  It's growing so good!

Love this project!  Love seeing everyones posts on Ali's page, and love finding new blogs to follow!  Happy Monday, make it a great week.
