14th annual chili cook off.

This past weekend Kevin was entered in the 14th annual chili cook-off at Findlay Market , our local farmers market.  It was so much fun!
Kevin makes this chili recipe that is from a local firehouse, he has made it a few times now and has mastered it! So I thought, I'm going to enter him into this cook-off and see what happens!

We had to get there early to set up and check in, they had a total of 24 entries!
It was time for the judging, so all the fireman came around and tasted everyones chili.
Hadley was so good as always, we got her a slice of pizza and she sat there and was our little charmer for sure.
It was packed, I mean towards the end you could barely get through the crowds just to get out and go to the bathroom.
Kevin was dishing out samples the entire time we were there! We even had a few people come back for their 4th and 5th tasting.
They had a live band playing, which was nice to have some background music.  It was a beautiful day outside, and so many people came!
If you've ever been to Findlay Market, they had it all set up off to the side in this tent. They had heaters set up inside too in case it was freezing out. But luckily, it got up to the 50's!
What a gorgeous day!
Still serving away...it was non stop.
We did not win unfortunately, but the guy that was set up right next to us did! He got a bag full of goodies, a crown to wear, and the official title of Chili Meister!  Everyone that participated received a gift card to Gold Star Chili.  Thanks for everyone that came out and supported the chili makers! It was such a fun event, and we can't wait to do it again next year!

around here.

around here been doing awesome with water intake.  The app I use is awesome, it's called the Plant Nanny. It tells you how many ounces to drink a day, and then you have this cute little plant that you have to water all day long.  If you drink like you're supposed to, it grows.  If you don't it dies and you have bury it.  Trust me, I've had to bury two so far. LOL  It's a good app and helps motivate me.
around here made a yummy healthy dessert with chocolate graham crackers.
around here this little three year old puts her clothes away better than her big bro and sis! She needs to teach them a few lessons haha
around here so incredibly proud to be this mans wife.

Had a fantastic week around here, great things are happening for us, and I can't wait to share more here along the way.  Up for this weekend, I entered Kevin in a chili cook off at our local Findlay Market. He has this chili recipe that he loves to make and everyone loves it.  He even won best chili at a friends party out of 8 other chili recipes! Let's hope he wins, that would be so fun!  Looking forward to some sunshine this weekend, maybe some rain in the mix too, but Sunday looks pretty nice!

Happy weekend!

25 random facts about me.

I love the ocean.  It's where I go to feel completely relaxed.

I'm 5'10" and a half inches.  Always have to throw that half in there.

I love to have pool parties.

Live music makes me feel so spirited.

If I could pick one color to wear for the rest of my life, I pick gray.

I keep a calendar at home on the fridge.  Keep a calendar at work.  And a separate birthday calendar.

I also keep a planner in my bag at all times.

Can't imagine not writing things down and crossing them off.

I swam competitively growing up and into high school.  Backstroke was my jam.

I do my very best thinking while in the shower and driving in the car.  But the problem is, I have no where to write down all these fabulous ideas, so much of the thoughts go missing shortly after putting the parking break on.

I equally love being at home and traveling.

Excessive clutter makes me crazy.

I think theirs a candid camera in every elevator I'm in.

I'm a fan of happy hour, when I get the chance to go.

I don't like to start a movie in the middle, even if I've seen it a 100 times.

It's hard for me not to spend at least $50 every time I walk in this store.

It's fun having a blog, and thinking of posts to do every month.

I hope random strangers read this blog.

As a matter of fact, here are the stats on that...

This song makes me think of Kevin every time I hear it.

It was our wedding song.

Blogging gives me an outlet to express whatever is on my brain.

Blogging has been the longest habit I've ever done and kept up with.

Reading books puts me to sleep, unless I'm on a plane or the beach.

Dreaming of the beach right now!

pinterest obsession.

This month, I have been seriously obsessed with Pinterest.  It's like this weird crazy habit I've gotten into every night before I try to fall asleep. I'll scroll Pinterest on my phone, and some nights it ends up being longer than for just a little while.
Here is my board information, I'm under mandyjoyloves if anyone wants to follow along click here. Right now, I'm on this big kitchen remodel kick. My husband calls it, "Mandy's kitchen remodel 2023!"  I have all these ideas running through my brain and I can't stop thinking about it. Maybe I'll do a post on our kitchen. It's so small, and was put together all ass backwards haha But no seriously, it's the tiniest kitchen and the flow doesn't work for me. I'd love to do it differently. One day maybe.

I digress.

If you are new to Pinterest, you should get on the bandwagon right now. I mean you could be a professional Pinterest person who does nothing but pin pins all day long. I seriously could do that.  I've done lots of ideas from Pinterest, but some of my boards are way fuller than what I've actually done. I'm sure that's the case with most people. Have you seen those Pinterest fail photos? They are hilarious. Google them or look them up on #pinterestfail on Instagram.
These are some of the boards I have created, I tend to move them around a lot so they might be in different spots when you check it out later. I like to move the boards I'm most interested in up to the top, and older boards are at the bottom.
You know how people have addictions?  I am addicted to Pinterest. For real. I have a problem. Do they have Pinterest help centers? LOL. Anyways, it's so fun though. I mean what's not to love about a website where you can basically type in anything in the search section and at least one thing comes up, but in reality more like 500 things of the same idea will come up.

I would love to meet the creators of Pinterest Ben and Evan one day, and tell them thank you for all the hours of sleep I've missed out on. They are both like 6 years younger than me and billionaires! Insane. I'm sure their parents are super proud.
Who are some of the people you follow on Pinterest?  Is it all friends and family? Famous people? Bloggers are the ones I tend to follow the most, with a little mix of friends and family in there too.  My Mom and Aunt will randomly send me ideas they find for me and the kiddos, and I'll do the same to them. It's a fabulous invention, that Pinterest thing. I love it. Too much.

from the weekend.

This weekend I......tried a smoothie with Kale and it wasn't bad at all!
This weekend I......watched Hadley get so excited to go to Grandad's house.
This weekend I......took more photos with my man.
This weekend I......love how Hadley and her cousin Kaiden get along so well and have fun together.
This weekend I......wrote down the qualities of a perfect husband in my eyes and then Kev did the same for the perfect wife. It was pretty funny...

The weather was almost like spring, high of 50 something but compared to freezing temperatures, 50 something feels like 80! Took the Christmas lights off the front porch, had George out there with me so he could run around and get some fresh air. Vacuumed out my car after 3 months, it was so bad from all the snow and slush all over, but now it's all clean and smellin good!

Happy Monday! Let's make it a great week...

around here taking more photos with my guy.
around here loving this three year old so so much.
around here Hadley loves to play with these little things. I forget what their called, but they are too cute.
around here went to the boat show and did some dreaming.

Was a good week around here, we got lots of snow and it's still here. Hope the sunshine melts it away soon. Every year when mid January hits, I get antsy and want summer to come soo bad. The thought of opening up the pool, going to the lake, driving with the windows down, wearing shorts and flip flops. Ahh sounds so lovely when it's 16 degrees outside right now.

Have a good weekend everyone!

what we did with all our Christmas cards.

We get so many Christmas cards every year which is so fantastic, but what do you do with them all after the holidays are over? Well here's your answer! We made a mini book/keepsake of them!
The only supplies you need are two binder rings, a piece of pretty Christmas scrapbook paper, and a hole punch. And of course, all the Christmas cards!
All I did was put all the cards together, smallest to largest. Hadley helped me with this little project too which made her day. The Grinch card from our Uncle Greg was her favorite, so that went on top.
Next thing you do is start hole punching! Pretty simple. I hand wrote the year "2017" on the red paper to put on top of the cards, so we'll know what year these cards were from.

Putting the binder rings through each card can be a little tricky with different size cards, just takes a few minutes.
Even Hadley had fun helping, and this literally probably took a total of 15 minutes from start to finish.
And there you go! All those Christmas cards in one place. Plus, it'll help to know who sent us cards each year. I put this in our Christmas decoration bins, so next year when we get everything out for the tree and house it'll be right there. Love easy projects!

Supplies used:
Binder rings
Crop-A-Dile hole punch

k&m / january.

A new year of K&M monthly posts.  Fun fun right?  Here we go....

It's only January and the weather isn't getting any warmer.

Snow has arrived where we live, and doesn't look like it's leaving anytime soon.

They started off the new year by eating dinner at one of their go-to places & watching the ball drop.

He started making smoothies with protein powder.

She loves smoothies minus the protein powder.

His Grandma passed away.

Was a hard day, but filled with so many stories of her.

She saw the movie Jumanji with her parents.

Dwayne Johnson & Kevin Hart together? Awesome.

She can't wait for the tiring long gloomy month to be over.

Bring on the warmer weather soon please!

Grandmas are really nice ladies who always make you feel good inside.  They read you stories and there is fun things in Grandma's houses.  You can take out all the pots and pans at once and make tents with blankets. Some people say that Grandma's spoil kids rotten. Not my Grandma. She says only eggs get rotten.  The world is a good place because of Grandma's.  -Unknown

This past Saturday, we said goodbye to Oma (Kevin's Grandma). She passed away in her sleep it sounds like, which is the best way to go wouldn't you agree?  The funeral day was a cold snowy day, but it was such a great turnout with so many people there to pay their respects.
Oma was such a special lady. She was a grandmother to seven grand kids, and great-grandmother to fifteen great-grand kids. She had a special connection with each and everyone one of them. I remember bonding with her right from the beginning. Any time you would stop over her condo to visit, the first thing she would say is "there's Bud in the fridge".  God love her.

We love you Oma and miss you tons.  Rest in peace.
