Christmas cookies.

Christmas cookies! Absolutely love to make sugar cookie cutouts. It's a very time consuming process, but it's almost like an art form which is why I love it so much. I always seem to forget how long it really takes but if you have the right ingredients and accessories, it goes very smoothly.
Had this little helper and she was loving every second of it. She put on her little pink apron, and we went to town. She helped measure the flour, pour in the "cream of tartar" (if you follow me on Instagram you'd see the story of that lol) She loved saying cream of tartar, it was hilarious. She was very patient but couldn't wait to lick the beater from the mixer.
I would give everyone a big basket of these every year if I could. It would probably take an entire weekend to do! They are the best tasting sugar cookies too!
Here is the sugar cookie recipe I always use, from my Mom who makes them the best!
Now for the most important part, the icing! After all the cookies have cooled, I use Wilton's cookie icing to outline the cookies. You can use whatever color you like, I had white so just used that. While the outlines hardened a little bit, then make the royal icing.

For the royal icing, I used 2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons meringue powder, and water for icing consistency. Just use your own judgment for the water part, I started with a little bit like you would for thick pancakes. Then added more to make it smoother. You then put that on the cookies inside the lines you just outlined. This part takes the most time, but it's the part I like the best. Making the cookie pretty! Add sprinkles to make it fun and festive.

6 days until Christmas!
