workspace wednesday.

Workspace Wednesday this week is all my stuff on our bed. Have the blog calendar out, which is just a blank calendar from Outlook that I print for the year. I staple all twelve months together, and write in pencil each blog post idea for that day. Helps me keep track of posts and planning for future posts.

Also have a blog notebook. It's actually one of those sketch books like this one from Michaels. You can find them at any arts and crafts store. Typically I use that book to write down all my ideas for the blog. If you can't tell, I love to write everything down!

The UC Bearcats notebook is another one I started using for work to write down things I need to do, or folders I need to make. And then the blank calendar on the bottom right of the above photo is something I'm going to try for bills/budgeting organization. I hope to write a post on that too.
After I finished the blog stuff, I started working on the kids' Christmas lists. This year I did something new with them that my brother and I actually used to do when we were little. Do you remember those giant Sears catalogs you used to get in the mail growing up? We used to circle tons of toys for our Christmas list. I even used to write down the item description, the item #, and everything for Santa! haha

On one of my Target shopping trips, I picked up three Target toy catalogs for each kid. Then gave them each a different colored marker to circle the things they wanted. Did the same thing with the ToysRUs catalog. It really helped me figure out the things they want this year. Of course not one of them circled clothes, which kids always need!

So that's my #workspacewednesday for this week! Feel free to follow along with me on Instagram, my name is Mjmloves and be sure to use the hashtag #workspacewednesday.

series shows on netflix.

Netflix. It's the best invention ever, well besides Pinterest in my opinion haha But seriously, if you aren't familiar with Netflix by now you need to get out of your bubble and check it out. We haven't had cable in a few years, all we watch is Netflix, HBO GO, MAX GO, and the Amazon Fire TV Stick

With that being said, my husband and I watch lots of shows and movies on Netflix. Lately, we've been big into watching shows. Here are some of my favorites...
Stranger Things. Just finished this one, it's only two seasons right now. I've heard more talk on two more seasons coming out. Seriously did not think I would like this because it's that weird sci-fi stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm a sci-fi fan for sure, but just the front cover with the kids did not interest me right off the bat. And it's set in the 80's. But once I started, I was curious what was going to happen next. It's good. I recommend getting past the first two episodes, then if you still don't like it you probably won't. At least you tried haha
Gilmore Girls. (the regular series) If you are not a Gilmore Girls fan then I'm sorry. I am a huge fan. I watch this over and over all the time. I love the humor between the Mom and daughter. Just love this one.
Gilmore Girls A Year In The Life. This one is the special one season series they made. I pretty much watch this on occasion when their's nothing else on. The year in the life series is one season with four episodes only. I am really hoping they do a second season. If you know how it ended, I would think they would do more seasons? Let's hope!
The Ranch. My husband loves this one, and I just started watching it with him. It's funny. Ashton Kutcher was a semi-pro football guy that ended his career, and comes home to help run the family business. It's worth a try. I'm always up for new shows to watch.
Orange is the new Black. When this would come out on Netflix, I would binge watch the entire thing. It was that good (to me). The main character Piper, is convicted of transporting drug money to an ex-girlfriend, and the show is about her time being in prison. Would never be able to survive in prison, so here's my two cents...just don't do it.
Santa Clarita Diet. I watched a few episodes of this one and it's a strange one for sure. Love Drew Barrymore so I tried really hard to like it, it's just very very weird. I'm putting this on my list for anyone who is looking for something new to try. With so many shows out there, sometimes it's hard to find one.
Making A Murderer. We binged watched this the weekend it came out. I won't give anything away in case you haven't watched it, but it's good. I am still on the fence about whether the guy is guilty or innocent. It's crazy.
The Office. This show is a little different, it's basically really dramatic office humor. It took me awhile to really like it, and once I did I crack up. The guy who plays Dwight is my favorite.

So here are a few of my favorite Netflix shows out there. Have you watched any of these? What are you favorites on Netflix? Always love to watch new shows!

from the weekend.

Look at that smile? She was so excited to celebrate her 3rd birthday at school. She got to wear the birthday hat, and then had cupcakes after naptime. She is the happiest kid! So thankful for her wonderful teachers that take these photos!
Playing cards with Hadley is more like learning the colors.
Thanksgiving day we went to a local parade right by our house for the first time. It's all local businesses, schools, etc., that participate each year.
They had a few animals to look at, huge bunnies, chickens, goats, and ducks. Hadley was in heaven.
After the parade we went to Frisch's for some brunch.
On Black Friday we ventured out to the mall, it was crowded as usual but we didn't stay long. Saved the Disney store for last, she was so so good. Every toy she wanted to buy and take home, to get around that I told her to ask Santa for the toys and surprisingly she was satisfied lol
Saturday we had Hadleys 3 year photos done. I know we have tons of photographers in our family, with myself being one, but I still like to go get them done elsewhere. Her reward for being so good for pictures was a giant lollipop. Afterwards, we hit up Dunkin Donuts for my favorite iced Vanilla Chai Tea which I know is massive calories, but it is delicious. Hadley got apple juice in the same cup as I did and to 3 year old is pretty exciting stuff.
Hadley has been obsessed with her baby dolls. At night before she goes to bed, at least one baby has to sleep in our bed. The best part is, when she wakes up she remembers and asks us if baby is awake.
Put up our Christmas tree this weekend! We usually do all of the tree, plus the usual decorations around the house but the big kids are not with us until this coming weekend so we're going to wait to decorate with them. I love how we put the tree in front of our window now, pulling up in the driveway and seeing the tree in the window is so pretty!

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a good weekend, and your week is off to a great start!

dear Hadley / 3 years.

Dear Hadley,

This week I found myself looking at old photos of you from the past 3 years. I can't believe we made it this far. One step at a time. You are growing into a smart, capable, funny, dependent, cuddly, sweet, hilarious, beautiful little girl. Right now you are obsessed with your baby dolls you got from your birthday. It's so fun to watch you be a little mama yourself. Saying "shh be very quiet baby is sleeping." I love it. Your favorite meals are mac and cheese, ravioli, and chicken nuggets. You started taking showers about 6 months ago.  Yes showers. You seriously do it all yourself, just need a little help rinsing the shampoo out of your hair.
Three is going to be the best year yet. Each year you get older, I keep saying this is the best age. Every age really does keep getting better and better. Watching you grow and learn everything in this world is one of my favorites. This mama gig is the best thing that I've ever done. I love that you can carry on full conversations, and have your own opinions. My least favorite is your opinion on what clothes to wear haha You are doing so well at your school, I can tell a huge difference in your vocabulary since you've started there and just growing up and learning so many new things.
These days with you are just magic. That is the best word I can think of to describe life with you as my daughter. Pure magic. I hope you know how grateful I am for you. How much I appreciate you, and your patience with me as we learn this gig together in life. I still have so much to learn as a parent, but we are in this together. All of us. Your Dad, brother, sister, and even Georgie poo as you call our dog.

You are so very special sweet girl.
Happy 3rd Birthday!

Love you,

Mom

Hadley's 3rd birthday party!

This weekend we celebrated Hadley turning three! Can you believe I have a three year old? Well not technically three yet, her official birthday is tomorrow. We celebrated with a few close family coming over. It's funny with her and the Trolls movie but she loves to watch it all the time which is fine by me, because I'm the type that can watch movies over and over again and never really get tired of them. So if you haven't seen Trolls yet, try to watch it because it's cute.

Let's start with decorations! I love to decorate, and throw parties and get togethers, any reason to celebrate anything, I'm all about it. Made a Troll tree and taped it on the door. Her favorite character from the movie is Princess Poppy.
The bird cage cracked me up. You seriously have to see the movie to get any of these things but I'll still explain. haha The mean ole ugly Bergen wants to eat all the little Trolls so this one captured some of them and put them in a cage. So I literally printed out the trolls on paper, cut them out, and taped the trolls on Hadley's toy bird cage!

Random decorations. You don't have to do much to make the place feel a little more lively!
On the front door, I cut out Princess Poppy's hair out of pink card stock paper. Worked out pretty good!
This photo is a little dark, but made a "hug time" sign. They hug every hour in the movie lol
Our traditional "Happy Birthday" banner we hang up for everyone's birthday. Just used tape and put it on top of the bench where her presents went.
Now for the food part! I was excited about this little spread. I just happened to come across this on searching Pinterest and thought what a great idea. A sweet and salty spread. I already had the wooden tray, I covered the bottom with paper towels and just used various containers to put things in or just spread them all across the board like the photo to the left. Worked out great and everyone loved it.
The above food table was full of random snacks that were movie themed.
Here is the list:
  • Poppy's Pops - lollipops
  • King Peppy's Puffs - cheese balls
  • Cloud Guy's Marshmallows - obviously marshmallows lol
  • Guy's Diamonds - hershey kisses
  • Copper's Cookies - miniature chocolate chip cookies
  • Branch's Branches - pretzel sticks
  • Biggie's Bugs - sour gummy worms
  • Creek's Crackers - rainbow goldfish
  • Prince Kristle's Gummie's - Troll gummies
To make the food cards, all I did was print out each character, cut them out, and tape them onto bright colored card stock. The wafer cookies I dipped in chocolate, and put sprinkles on the edge of them.
The cake was from Kroger which was delicious! Chocolate cake with whippy frosting, even came with a Princess Poppy stamp.
She was so fun to watch open her presents! She is so meticulous, she picks up every piece of wrapping paper after she opens each gift. (she is my daughter for sure!)
Hadley and her cousin Kaiden were hilarious. Playing with all her new toys in her room, she was loving every second of it.

Cousins!
All day long, she kept saying that everyone is going to sing Happy Birthday to her at her party! So when the time came to actually sing to her, the look on her sweet little face was just priceless. She is the best, and I wish I could have 5 more of her.

We had a great little party for our sweet Hadley girl. She was so excited the entire day, nonstop all day long. She got some great toys, and had a great time celebrating with everyone. Thanks to everyone for coming and brightening her world for one day!

around here.

around here coming home to our dog Georges' mess is not fun at all. He needs exercise or just some old fashion lovin big time.
around here out of focus picture but having Chipotle for dinner with this patient little thing.
around here it's been a busy week. Thankful for small miracles.

Happy Friday everyone. Looking forward to this weekend, celebrating Hadley's 3rd birthday! Can't wait because I love to plan parties, especially my favorite three year old Troll style. Have a good one.

from the weekend.

We celebrated Hadley's birthday a little early with my parents, she got three new toys. Max from Secret Life of Pets is her favorite!
Saturday we just hung around and played all day.
Sunday we celebrated this big guy's 13th birthday! Look at that smile! He's like a young man already. We officially have a teenager on our hands!

Was a good weekend, and happy Monday folks!
